Wat was 2018 een fantastisch jaar!

A special year comes to an end.
A year out to follow my passion for photography, invest in myself and build my photography business.
A year away from the corporate life, the back to back meetings and heavy roles in sales and marketing I had always been in.
It was a year of entrepreneurship, without a secure income but with lots of freedom and creativity. It was a year of (re-)finding myself, of letting go and looking for balance.
I found out to my own surprise that my work didn’t define who I was, which was most liberating. I restated what and whom gives me or costs me energy and made choices accordingly. I realised how much I was always pushing myself, faced my perfectionism, my impatience and insecurities. I learnt to let go...a little and to pace myself. I embraced doubt and yet regained confidence.
After the summer I decided that I wanted to combine photography and work in 2019 and started to look for another job. I started to miss the business challenges, being part of a team and structure. I met many headhunters and reconnected with many people, which was enriching and gave me hope and purpose. I met great people who provided me with insights and feedback that helped me forward. It was also a challenging process. Looking for a job means having to « sell oneself » time and time again, hearing very little back from reknown recruitment firms, dealing with all types of inconsistent responses following applications and practicing resilience. Finding a job is confronting, time consuming and quite hard at time.
I am absolutely delighted to share with you that I will join HelloFresh from January for 6 months as Head of Brand and Communication a.i. It will be my first interim job and I am really exited to join a great team and company and grateful for the vote of confidence the hiring team placed in me. Interestingly enough this is the result of applying directly to the position through Linkedin and letting the recruiter as well as the CEO know personally that I would love to join the company with a personal message. Taking charge, showing personality and making true choices worked out for me.
So all in all 2018 was really a special year on all fronts. Next to finding my next professional challenge and following my passion for photography, I also sold a house, invested in myself, qualified as « natural light photographer » and spent a whole month in Vietnam and another one in France! It was a year of many beautiful meetings and pictures as illustrated with this huge collage, that didn’t have enough space to include every photoshoots of this year! I am proud of how much I learnt and how much I evolved as a photographer. I am thankful for everyone who trusted me and joined me in the studio. I met beautiful and lovely children who gave me smiles, hugs and touched me with their candour and generosity. I met parents, families, professionals, business owners, teenagers, pet owners and other photographers all of whom had their own stories and personalities. Thanks for sharing with me, inspiring me and making great pictures with me. Thank you to my 1600+ followers on Insta and almost 1000 Facebook fans. This journey is on-going and I can’t wait to welcome you in my studio in 2019 and share more pictures with you. The studio will run in the 1st 6 months of the year non-stop in weekends and on Wednesday afternoons on request. What the rest of the year will bring is unknown for now but I am confident it will be good as long as I follow my intuition.
Happy new year my friends 😘
